FEBRUARY VIEWS 2012 – Healthy Hearts

Posted on: February 11, 2012

The heart is the center or middle point of the human chakra system AND at the studio this week we are mid-way to accomplishing the Journey of Our Hearts! For those who are not partaking in this program, might I share that this journey is varied and unique for all of us who are taking it. Just as there are an assorted number of ways to find balance in our lives, there are as many ways to nourish the heart.

In honour and celebration of Heart Month, check in with your heart often. I recommend rubbing your palms together vigorously and then placing them open to your heart center. Feel and listen as you breathe. Be receptive and allow the communication to flow between your lower bodily system and your upper more spiritual system. Hear what arises and revere to have this practice advance your mind-body connection.

Regardless of how you work to maintain a healthy heart, understand that an abundance of love (for both giving and receiving) begins with complete and wholehearted love for yourself.Have a Happy Heart Month!

Love from us all at Body Harmony,

Lori Charko

NOTE: Tuesday & Thursdays Gentle Hatha Yoga Flow classes have changed to start at 9:15am instead of 9:30am.

Student of the Month

Congratulations Adrian Parker! This month we would like to show the love to Adrian, a loyal and long time patron of Body Harmony. When we asked her for a few words about her experience at the studio, we were touched with her reply. “Wow! Student of the month, why me? It should be that we give Lori and her instructors special recognition. The studio is a wonderfully peaceful place to practice Yoga. I was introduced to the practice of yoga at Body Harmony the first year they were in business. Yoga has proven to be a wonderful complement to the two sports I still pursue; golf and downhill skiing. Yoga has made me more flexible and stronger and helped my balance. I’ve also learned to slow my mind and be in the moment, to find peace in the meditation that comes with every class. I love the excellence of instruction that Adrienne provides and the fun camaraderie of the other participants. I am never disappointed when I try other classes and I like the flexibility the schedule at Body Harmony provides. Thank you for recognizing me as ‘Student of the Month’.”

Yoga from the Core with Lori Charko

If you have done yoga, you will benefit from clarifying the detailed anatomy of the core, as well as pick up fine tuning techniques and core visualizations. If you have never done yoga, you will learn fundamental back and abdominal conditioning yoga exercises, appropriate positioning for sun salutations and improve your awareness of the core. The yoga postures will be taught with adjustments to work safely with the physical conditions and postures of the individual students.

Restorative Yoga: Rejuvenate & Restore with Nara Henderson

Nara is a Registered Yoga Teacher & Yoga Therapist.
In the powerful and healing practice of Restorative Yoga, we get to unplug our connection to the doing, activities, and the constant go-go-go. We sink into a more gentle, slow, sweet yoga. Physically, we support ourselves in nurturing, soft-looking poses, draped over bolsters, blankets, and pillows. We literally meet ourselves where we are already at in a pose, and then we surrender and soften, and gently dive deep energetically. We bare our soul for the audience of our awareness, and we allow the truth to pour out of us into the Space. A Restorative Yoga practice helps to balance our nervous system response, and allows us to feel rejuvenated and refreshed to take on our lives with more clarity and energy. Come prepared to feel amazing at the end of this workshop!
