MAY VIEWS 2010 – The Value of Commitment

Posted on: May 11, 2010

The Value of CommitmentCommitment is strong word. Dedicating oneself to an engagement means a decision has been made and the integrity of word behind that decision will be tested. Whether the commitment involves a couple of hours for physical participation, a year of obligation to school/work, or a lifelong pledge to a spouse, we can expect an energetic shift. This type of shift is needed for life to grow and flow.

Owning a yoga studio has been a huge commitment, but it continues to provide great lessons and rewards. I am extremely grateful it has brought the experience of a wonderful community, and now a loving partner. We can all take comfort in knowing, that yoga practice can help us take on commitment and change in life more gracefully. At Body Harmony, we value your commitment to our studio and want you to know that we are dedicated to making it the best it can be. As we are continuously looking to make positive changes, please provide your feedback in our Spring Survey (you may win a FREE 10 Class Pass)!

We would like to extend a special thanks to all of those who committed to the Journey of Our Hearts and who helped build the schoolhouse in Peru which is pictured above. And, if you are committing yourself to a healthier lifestyle, then check out the vegetarian recipes our talented studio assistant Shaina has posted from the latest retreat! Finally, if you purchase your yoga passes between now until the end of June, you can take advantage of 5% savings (ex. 1 Year of Unlimited Yoga for only $960 plus gst).

Green Tips for Gardening

Green Tips for GardeningGrowing your own food is fun, delicious, money conscious and environmentally friendly.
Here are some tips on how to get started:

  • Ask a neighbor – Everyone has a neighbor with an immaculate garden. Knock on their door, and ask for tips about what grows best in you area. Neighbors are also a great source for borrowing gardening tools so you can save money and reduce waste.
  • Visit your local gardening center – the staff at most gardening centers are teaming with knowledge. Ask them what you need to get started and also, how you can make your home garden 100% organic.
  • Your computer – the internet is full with great (free and paperless) information about gardening. Find out when to plant different foods, watch gardening videos on YouTube, and even get great new recipes!
  • Trial and error – often the best way to learn is by just jumping in with both feet.
  • Make it organic – One of the best parts of growing your own food is knowing exactly how your plants are cultivated. Use your own compost to fertilize the plants, and check out the hundreds of organic pest and weed control products on the market.Start now and you can be eating your own home-grown food this summer!
